70 Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs):
- 45 ethanol (E-85) "Flex-Fuel" vehicles
- 15 gas-electric hybird vehicles
- 10 biodiesel (B-20) vehicles
Motor Oil Reuse
Up to 2,300 gallons per year of used motor oil is collected and reused as heating fuel in a clean-burning oil furnace at the vermicomposting facility.
Grounds
- Campus leaf, grass, and landscape waste are composted at the SIUC Farms for Farms and Grounds use.
- Compost for campus plantings is supplied by the vermicomposting operation.
- Each tree removed is replaced with 3 new trees.
- Wood chips are reused by Dairy Center for cow bedding.
- Biodiesel fuel (B-20) is used where possible in mowers and tractors.

Green Cleaners
- Biodegradable soaps and cleaners
- Foam soap dispensers reduce soap consumption
Paper Products
- Automatic lavatory paper towel dispensers reduce towel waste
- Xcelerator high velocity air driers reduce lavatory paper towel usage
- Lavatory paper towels have 100% recycled content (40% post-consumer)
- Toilet paper has recycled content.
Printing & Duplicating
Printing
- All ink used is soybean ink.
- 100% of all paper stock used has some recycled content.
Duplicating
- Standard white paper has 30% recycled content.
- 100% recycled content paper is available upon request.
- Minimum recycled content is 20%.
