Building Maintenance Repair Requests
The Physical Plant has the responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the physical facilities of the University academic and administrative areas. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to:
- utilities
- cost for all electrical energy, water, steam and natural gas consumed in academic areas
- maintenance of secondary electric distribution system to and including disconnect switch serving equipment
- maintenance of heating and cooling equipment and piping for general heating and cooling of building; including air compressor for pneumatic controls, exclusive of apparatus designed specifically for research
- maintenance of the Steam Plant and its tunnel network that consists of steam and condensate distribution lines, water, sump pumps, hot water heaters and auxiliary control equipment
Any building maintenance deficiencies should be reported to the Facilities Operations Center. The following information will be needed when the request is taken:
- brief description of problem
- location of problem (building and room number)
- department
- name and phone number of person reporting the problem
Emergency Services
Maintenance or service work necessary to eliminate a hazard, prevent disruption to scheduled activities or prevent damage to the building or facility will be responded to as soon as possible. The problem will be secured and made safe normally on the same day as it is requested. (Refer to Emergency Repair Requests).
Requesting Emergency Repairs
To report a Building Maintenance Emergency Repair request, call the Facilities Operations Center.
The following information will be requested when the request is taken:
- brief description of problem
- location of problem (building and room number)
- department
- name and phone number of person reporting the problem
The department will be billed for the emergency repair of departmental equipment. A Request for Physical Plant Service form should be received by the Facilities Operations Center before the close of business on the day the request is made.
